Event Websites That Sell Tickets

An event website has one job. What belongs above the fold, the order of the page, the four questions every visitor has, and the things that quietly cost you registrations.

Event Websites That Sell Tickets

An event website is not a brochure. It answers four questions and takes a registration. Everything else on it is decoration, and some of the decoration is actively costing you money.

The four questions, in order

  1. What is it? Name, one line of description, category.
  2. When and where? Dates and city, in text, visible without scrolling.
  3. Is it for me? Who attends, and what they get.
  4. What does it cost, and how do I book?

If a visitor cannot answer the first two in three seconds, they are gone. A full-screen hero video with the dates below the fold fails this test beautifully.

Above the fold, without exception

  • Event name.
  • One sentence: what it is and who it is for.
  • Dates and location as text.
  • One primary button: Register. Not "Learn more".

Then, in this order

  1. Why attend — three or four concrete outcomes, not adjectives.
  2. Speakers — faces and names. The strongest social proof you have.
  3. Agenda — even a skeleton. People need to picture the day.
  4. Tickets — types, prices, what is included. See ticket types and pricing.
  5. Practicalities — venue, travel, accessibility, contact.
  6. FAQ — the eight questions your inbox actually receives.

What quietly costs registrations

  • A hidden price. "Contact us for pricing" on a £200 ticket loses more than it protects.
  • Registration on another domain, with different branding. The drop at that step is real and measurable.
  • A slow hero image. Three seconds of loading costs more than the image adds.
  • No mobile pass. Over half of first visits are on a phone.
  • Last year's dates still in the footer. More common than you would think, and it destroys trust instantly.

Keep one call to action

Register. Repeated down the page — after the speakers, after the agenda, after the tickets — always the same words and the same colour. A page with "Register", "Get tickets", "Join us" and "Sign up" as four different buttons is a page that has not decided.

Show that other people are coming

Attendee organisations, last year's photos, testimonials with a name and a company, "220 registered so far". Specific and verifiable beats superlative: "attendees from 34 countries" is worth more than "world-class".

Then make it findable

A page that converts and cannot be found is half a job — see event SEO. Gathervo builds the event site, the agenda, the speaker pages and the registration on one domain, so nobody leaves your site to buy a ticket. Try it free.
